Rainee Stoddart, DVM

Dr Rainee Stoddart has had  horses in her life since she first convinced her parents to let her take lessons at the age of seven. She understands the deep connections that people can develop with them as a result of her own personal experiences. As a teenager, Dr Stoddart moved to Simcoe County where she had her first experiences with cattle and small ruminants. Attending high school in Elmvale provided her lots of opportunities to gain familiarity working with production animals.

Dr Stoddart first met Dr Hunnisett in the same fashion as most of our clients! He was her veterinarian for several years before she even attended vet school. Later working in Dr Hunnisett’s office helped solidify her passion for large animal medicine. In 2014, Dr Stoddart graduated from Ontario Veterinary College. After graduation, she immediately began working as an associate veterinarian at Honeywood & Warder Veterinary Services. Only four years later, she and Dr Hunnisett purchased that practice and it became Central Ontario Veterinary Services.

One of Dr Stoddart’s favourite aspects of veterinary medicine is that you are constantly learning. Even after several years of practice, cases arise that present opportunities for education. To facilitate this constant learning Dr Stoddart makes it a priority to attend continuing education events. Recently, Dr Stoddart has also found enjoyment and opportunities for learning through teaching COVS’ newly graduated associate veterinarians.

Dr Stoddart has had the pleasure to share her life with three remarkable mares. Her first horse was a solid appaloosa mare named Jodi. Jodi took her from a beginner rider through to her first competitions in various disciplines. Dr Stoddart’s next horse was a grey thoroughbred-cross mare named Ficelle. Ficelle was a big step away from Jodi’s patient and agreeable nature, but she taught Dr Stoddart a lot making her a much better rider as they competed in eventing competitions across Ontario.  Her current horse is a Hanoverian mare that started her life as a dressage mount. Dr Stoddart is looking forward to seeing if Houghton would like to learn how to jump!

Drew Hunnisett, DVM

Dr Drew Hunnisett has lived in Simcoe County for over 30 years and has been a large animal veterinarian in the county since graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1988. He worked with Dr Gerry Honeywood at the Allandale Veterinary Clinic from 1988 to 1995 before operating Hillsdale Veterinary Services from 1995 to 2012. He returned to work with Honeywood and Warder in 2013, and purchased the practice with Dr Stoddart in 2018.

Throughout his many years in large animal practice, Dr Hunnisett has gained experience and expertise across a variety of large-animal disciplines. His areas of special interest are equine dentistry, reproduction, pre-purchase exams and general surgery. He is committed to continuing professional development and considers himself privileged to serve our clients and their animals in the practice of large animal veterinary medicine.

Dr Hunnisett has been a member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario, and has been a peer reviewer of equine medical records for the College. He is a member of the The Ontario Association of Equine Practitioners and The British Equine Veterinary Association.

Christie Ryan, DVM

Dr Christie Ryan grew up in Brampton in a large family with lots of dogs and riding horses. While completing her Animal Biology degree at the University it Guelph, she spent time with a dairy veterinarian in Listowel and worked as a summer student for the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, sparking her interest in large animal medicine.

Dr Ryan graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2015 and immediately started working as a mixed animal veterinarian in southwestern Ontario for her first two years in practice. A desire to travel took Dr Ryan to a veterinary job in the east of England at a beef and sheep practice for another year. Now she has settled in Simcoe County with her husband, 2 dogs and a three-legged tail-less cat. Dr Ryan’s professional interests include bovine reproductive and obstetrical work, calf health, cow comfort, and small ruminant medicine. Her personal interests include spending time with her family and pets, playing and watching sports, and cooking.

Kailee Wohlgemuth, DVM

Dr Kailee Wohlgemuth grew up on her family’s farm in Innisfil, Ontario.  Riding horses and helping on the farm have been part of her life since she was a child, and it was there that she developed her interest in agriculture and large-animal medicine.  Throughout her education, Dr Wohlgemuth returned to work on the farm during the summers, confirming her commitment to the health and management of livestock.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and biochemistry in 2018, before attending the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, and graduating as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2023.

Dr Wohlgemuth enjoys playing with and caring for her horses and dogs, working on the farm, jogging throughout the year, and skiing in the winter. 

Katelyn Diamantakos, RVT

Katelyn was born and raised in Simcoe County and has been working with horses from a young age. Following her desire to work with large animals, she attended and graduated from the Georgian College Veterinary Technician program with honours and pursued a career as a Registered Veterinary Technician focusing on equine medicine.

After graduating, Katelyn worked with a local veterinarian in an equine practice dealing primarily with Standardbred and Thoroughbred race horses. Wanting to pursue her interest in equine anaesthesia, surgery and critical care, she then spent the next 5 years working as the lead veterinary technician and manager of patient care at an equine surgical and referral practice here in Ontario.

Katelyn joined the practice in the summer of 2013. During the work days she can be found on the road with one of our veterinarians, in the office doing lab work, answering phone calls, booking appointments and occasionally out doing her own farm calls. In her spare time she enjoys spending time outdoors running, walking the dog, camping and spending time with family and friends.

Emily Snoddon, RVT

Emily grew up in the Kawartha Lakes area, where she was raised around mostly beef cattle. Emily started showing Charolais cattle at the age of 7. She eventually joined 4H, which is what sparked her interest in large animal medicine. 

Emily pursued her interest and went to Northern College for Veterinary Technology. She graduated in the summer of 2021. Emily did her placement at the practice before graduating, which made her very interested in pursuing her career here with us at COVS. Emily started with us in September 2022 and has loved it ever since. 

When Emily is not at work she enjoys spending time with friends, playing with her two dogs, and managing her cow calf operation with her husband on their farm in Kirkfield. 

Reagan Sarjeant, RVT

Reagan was born and raised in Oro-Medonte and has been working with and riding horses from a young age. Following her desire to work with large animals, she attended and graduated from the University of Guelph in Animal Biology and Seneca College in the Veterinary Technician program and pursued a career as a Registered Veterinary Technician focusing on large animal medicine.

After graduating, Reagan worked as a small animal veterinary technician helping with surgery, x-rays, blood draws and much more before joining COVS once again. She previously worked as an administrative assistant in the summer of 2021 and 2022 at COVS.

During the day, Reagan can be found on the road with the vets or in the office prepping for scopes, surgeries and x-rays. In her free time, Reagan loves reading, boating, skiing and horseback riding. She also enjoys spending time with friends, family and her dog, Seguin.

Emily Thomassin, RVT

Originally from Montreal, Quebec, Emily’s lifelong love of animals brought her to Ontario to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She graduated from Seneca College’s Veterinary Technician program with High Honours, building on years of hands-on experience growing up around horses. From equitation to dressage, Emily has enjoyed the equestrian world and transformed that passion into a dedication to large animal veterinary medicine.

Enthusiastic about learning and committed to providing quality care, Emily is excited to grow her expertise as part of the COVS team. When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll find her in the fields herding sheep or perfecting advanced obedience work with her Australian Cattle Dog, Darwin.

Olivia Goymour

Olivia was born and raised in Alliston, where she has been around horses since a young age. At the age of 7, she convinced her parents to let her take lessons and that is where the love of horses began. From taking weekly lessons to spending weekends at the barn, Olivia knew this was turning into a passion.

Olivia graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Bio Resource Management, majoring in equine management in 2022. The knowledge she gained made working with COVS an easy choice.

During the normal work day, you can find Olivia answering the phone, booking appointments, and getting prescriptions ready. In her spare time, you can find Olivia at the barn with her horse, Adelaide or taking her jeep off-roading and off-grid camping with friends.
