Our Heritage
Central Ontario Veterinary Services is the oldest large-animal veterinary practice in the County of Simcoe, and is the direct successor of the practice established by Dr Clarence Fleming, the first licensed veterinary surgeon to practise in Barrie, Ontario.
In 1970, Dr Gerry Honeywood and Dr Peter Shoppel purchased the large-animal portion of the practice from Dr Lloyd Fisher, and renamed it Allandale Veterinary Clinic. Dr Peter Warder joined the practice in 2008, and became a partner in 2011 when the practice was renamed again – Honeywood and Warder Veterinary Services. Dr Honeywood continued to practise until just before his death in 2016.
Dr Drew Hunnisett worked in the practice from 1988 to 1995, and then again from 2013 to 2018. Dr Rainee Stoddart joined the practice in 2014. Dr Hunnisett and Dr Stoddart purchased the practice in 2018.
The new practice name reflects the growing area we serve, and we look forward to seeing you on the farms and in the stables of Central Ontario.
